Wike Is PDP’s Biggest Problem, Has ‘More Than Half a Leg in APC’ — Ehi Braimah

ABUJA — Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Naira Times, Ehi Braimah, has accused Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, of deepening the prolonged crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while aligning himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Breakfast Show on Friday, Braimah said Wike’s actions have continued to destabilise the PDP, warning that his dual political alignment was undermining Nigeria’s opposition and weakening democratic institutions.

“The FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, I think has been a big problem for that party. Unfortunately, they’ve not been able to tame him. I see the FCT minister from time to time…, and now they have even given conditions for the convention to hold in November in Ibadan. That is not necessary,” he said.

Braimah further alleged that Wike may be deliberately working to weaken the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections in order to give the APC a smooth ride.

“Maybe there is a deliberate plan to weaken PDP so that the ruling party, APC, will just have it very smoothly in 2027. Maybe that is the role Wike is playing — by having one leg in PDP and one leg in APC,” he stated.

He went on to sharpen his criticism: “The actual fact is that he has more than half a leg in APC and just half a leg in PDP. Everything he’s doing with his associates is just to create crisis within the party — a never-ending crisis.”

The media executive also took aim at the broader political class, accusing Nigerian politicians and the judiciary of weakening democratic institutions for selfish interests.

“Politicians are the greatest threat against our democracy. Unfortunately, the judiciary is being used as a partner in making democratic institutions very weak. Politicians generally are not helping our case. They are so self-centered and selfish; they just think about themselves,” Braimah lamented.
