ABUJA — The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm felicitations to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world, urging them to emulate the Prophet’s exemplary virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.
He stressed that these values are vital in fostering unity and driving national progress.
“The celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid offers us yet another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence, and imbibe the Prophet’s teachings of mutual respect and selfless service to humanity,” the minister noted.
Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to use the occasion to renew their commitment to building a more peaceful and prosperous nation.
