EFCC Disowns Ex-Staff Spotted on Lege Miami’s Dating Show, Orders His Arrest for Forgery and ID Card Theft

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dissociated itself from the actions of one of its dismissed staff members, Olakunle Alex Folarin, after he appeared on a live matchmaking programme hosted by entertainer Lege Miami.

Folarin’s presence on the TikTok dating show sparked a frenzy online when viewers identified him as an EFCC “officer,” leading to widespread criticism of the anti-graft agency.

In a statement released via its official X handle on Monday, the EFCC clarified that Folarin had long been dismissed from service for certificate forgery. He previously worked as a driver at the Commission’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate.

The agency further revealed that its Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered Folarin’s arrest for unlawfully retaining EFCC property, including an official identity card, which he failed to return after his dismissal.

“The EFCC condemns in the strongest terms the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami’s social media platforms,” the statement read.

“The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC.”
