Mass Defection Hits APC in Sokoto as Members Flock to ADC Over Hardship, Insecurity

SOKOTO — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State has suffered a major setback as a large number of its members dumped the ruling party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The defectors were formally received on Sunday by Senator Abubakar Gada, a prominent leader in the ADC coalition, who described the development as a clear sign that Nigerians are losing faith in the APC-led government.

According to Gada, citizens in Sokoto East and other parts of the country are grappling with worsening insecurity and economic hardship, which have crippled farming, destroyed livelihoods, and deepened poverty.

“Our people are battling serious security threats that have destroyed farming, our main source of income. This has caused poverty, unemployment, and hunger in our communities,” he lamented.

He noted that the rising wave of defections to the ADC demonstrates Nigerians’ readiness to rally behind an alternative that can rescue the country from its current challenges.

“Many Nigerians are coming to ADC because they believe in our mission to rescue the country. The APC government’s poor performance has forced people to look for hope elsewhere, and ADC is providing that option,” Gada said.
