ABUJA — The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has urged Nigerians to appreciate the progress recorded in the ongoing fight against insecurity across the country.
Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, on Thursday, General Musa highlighted recent breakthroughs by the Nigerian Armed Forces, including the arrest of the son of Boko Haram’s founder and key commanders of the terror group Ansaru.
He stressed that while security challenges cannot disappear overnight, the military has made remarkable gains that deserve national recognition.
“I think we should be very grateful that things are really picking up. I don’t think there’s any country that has 100% peace,” Musa said.
“Sixteen years, we’ve been like this; it’s not something that within two years we will be able to stop. But I can tell you, we’ve made giant strides. We just mentioned the Ansaru commanders that were arrested. This is one of the most significant arrests that have been made; getting the two of them shows how detailed the planning was,” he added.
The CDS reiterated that insecurity is a global issue but expressed confidence that Nigeria is moving steadily toward restoring peace and stability.
