IBADAN — The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, will officially ascend the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025, in a grand coronation ceremony set to hold at the iconic Mapo Hall.
Vanguard gathered that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has given his approval for the enthronement, paving the way for the former Oyo State governor to succeed the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Confirmation of the coronation came after a state delegation met with Ladoja and the Olubadan-in-Council at his Bodija residence on Wednesday.
Speaking with Vanguard in a telephone interview, Chief Adeola Oloko, media aide to the monarch-in-waiting, said: “Oba Ladoja will be enthroned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, 26 September 2025.”
Ahead of the announcement, Ladoja had held a closed-door meeting with Ibadan kingmakers at his private residence on Ondo Street, Old Bodija, on Tuesday. The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, was his first official engagement with the council since his return following the passing of Oba Olakulehin.
The upcoming coronation is expected to draw dignitaries from across Nigeria as Ibadan prepares to witness history at Mapo Hall.
