ABUJA — The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general election is “a done deal,” citing overwhelming grassroots support for the administration nationwide, particularly in his home state of Ondo.
Tunji-Ojo made the remark in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), led by its Director of Corporate Affairs, Hon. Bayowa Foresythe, who presented a letter of appreciation from the group’s National Director General, Hon. Bisi Yusuf.
Reaffirming his commitment to grassroots mobilisation, the Minister said President Tinubu’s growing popularity across Nigeria guarantees a smooth path to victory in 2027.
“We must put in our best to support Mr. President. I cannot sit in Abuja and fail to extend support to my people in Ondo, whether through grassroots mobilisation, party activities, or programmes that ease the suffering of the people,” Tunji-Ojo said.
He praised support groups like GMT for providing platforms to harness goodwill for the administration, stressing that “in the end, it is about votes and every single vote counts. President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 general election.”
The Minister also highlighted the importance of synergy between government, party structures, and independent support groups, noting that many Nigerians are choosing to back Tinubu out of personal conviction beyond party lines.
Commending the Ondo State leadership of GMT — led by its DG, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, and State Secretary, Hon. Rasheed Badmus — Tunji-Ojo lauded their steadfastness in driving grassroots support for the President.
Speaking earlier, Foresythe applauded the Minister for his consistent support to GMT, especially in Ondo State, where he has reportedly been the sole financier of several initiatives, including the widely celebrated Jingi Asiwaju free medical outreach across senatorial districts.
He also praised Tunji-Ojo’s reforms in the Ministry of Interior, noting improved service delivery, especially in passport processing, which he described as “a legacy worthy of recognition.”
“Your enormous support, both morally and financially, has sustained our programmes and amplified the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Foresythe said.
