LAGOS — A passenger identified as Comfort Emmanson, who allegedly assaulted airline officials aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, has been charged to court and remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility.
The Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Tunde Moshood, disclosed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
The action follows the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) recent warning that stricter enforcement measures will soon become routine at Nigerian airports, as cases of unruly passenger behaviour are on the rise.
Emmanson’s case comes just days after a separate incident involving popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1 or K1, who allegedly attempted to prevent a ValueJet aircraft from taking off after being deboarded.
Aviation authorities say the clampdown on disorderly conduct is aimed at safeguarding flight operations and ensuring the safety of passengers and crew.
