ABUJA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the locations of 811 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) centres across Nigeria as preparations intensify for the official resumption of voter registration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Commission made the disclosure following its regular weekly meeting held on Thursday, where it also reviewed the registration process for new political parties and other electoral activities.
INEC had earlier confirmed that the CVR will resume on Monday, August 18, 2025, with an online pre-registration portal, while in-person registration will begin a week later on Monday, August 25, 2025. Both processes are scheduled to run concurrently for one year until August 30, 2026.
According to Thursday’s announcement, the CVR exercise will take place in 811 centres, covering Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas, 36 State INEC offices, and the FCT, operating from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding national public holidays.
To make the process easier for Nigerians, INEC is launching an online CVR Live Locator, which will go live on August 17, 2025 — a day before the exercise begins. The locator can be accessed via: https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/locator.
The Commission has also uploaded a 38-page document detailing the addresses of all 811 registration centres on its official website and social media channels. In addition, dedicated Help Desk phone numbers have been provided for every state to assist citizens with inquiries.
INEC noted that the registration procedures for both online and physical enrolment remain the same as they were during the last CVR exercise in 2022.
The Commission promised to release detailed guidelines, including video tutorials, next week to further guide the public through the registration process.
With the announcement, INEC has effectively kicked off the countdown to Nigeria’s next major electoral cycle, urging eligible citizens to take advantage of the CVR window to get registered and ready to vote.
