A prominent member of the Northern Elders Forum and former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s current state, citing widespread hunger, insecurity, and persistent bloodshed.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Baba-Ahmed said the level of hardship across the country is alarming and that no Nigerian can truly say they are satisfied with the direction the nation is heading.
“Nobody would tell you that they are entirely happy with the way the country is going. There is too much hunger, insecurity, and bloodshed,” he stated.
Baba-Ahmed, who recently resigned from his advisory role in the Presidency, revealed that his decision did not come as a surprise to many within the Northern Elders Forum. According to him, his dissatisfaction with the administration and its handling of national issues had long been known.
“Some members of the Northern Elders Forum knew about my feelings about the job, about the administration, about the direction this country was going. They knew I was unhappy about many things. So it wasn’t entirely a surprise when I walked around and said I am back,” he added.
His remarks underscore growing public discontent with the government’s performance amid Nigeria’s worsening economic and security challenges.
