Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Reacting to Atiku’s decision to quit the PDP, Olayinka cautioned the former presidential candidate against attempting a return to the party should his future political ambitions fail.
Atiku, in his resignation statement, cited “irreconcilable differences” with the PDP leadership, accusing the party of straying from its founding principles.
However, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Olayinka claimed that Atiku was largely responsible for the current state of disarray within the PDP.
“Today, the PDP has been so destroyed and damaged by this one man, Atiku Abubakar, who is now gone,” Olayinka said.
He expressed confidence that dedicated and loyal members would rebuild the party without Atiku, adding: “When highly spirited members of the party come together to rebuild the PDP, Atiku should not come back after he has failed in his new political journey — because I know he is going to fail.”
Olayinka’s comments reflect the growing tension within opposition circles as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
