The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have returned to Nigeria from London ahead of his final burial rites scheduled for later today in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
The body arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina on Monday, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima. President Bola Tinubu, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda, senior government officials, and members of the Buhari family were present at the airport to receive the late leader.
Buhari passed away in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 after a brief illness. His burial will take place in accordance with Islamic rites.
The late president, a former military ruler who later served two terms as a democratically elected leader, is being remembered for his contributions to Nigeria’s political and security landscape.
