ADC Alleges Legal Sabotage Plot as 310 Lawyers Mobilise Nationwide

The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has raised alarm over an alleged plot by the current administration to use the judiciary to derail the party’s growing political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Abuja during a strategic meeting with the ADC National Legal Support Group, led by Abdullahi Abdurrahman, the former Senate President warned that the party could face orchestrated legal attacks aimed at stalling its rise.

“The ADC is the party to beat in 2027. The current administration may attempt to use the courts to frustrate our momentum,” Mark stated. He called on Nigerians to rally behind the ADC as a credible and patriotic alternative capable of steering the country forward.

In response to the looming threats, Abdurrahman disclosed that no fewer than 310 lawyers have volunteered to defend the ADC in all ongoing and future legal matters across the country. He said the legal team, which has representation in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, is fully mobilised to counter any challenges that may arise.

“We are prepared to handle any case that may arise against the ADC anywhere in the country,” he said.

The legal support group features several prominent figures, including the party’s Legal Adviser, Peter Oyewole; former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN; and legal scholar and former Edo State Governor, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor.

Abdurrahman expressed confidence in the current leadership’s vision and capacity to reposition the ADC as a transformative force in Nigerian politics. He also lauded Senator Mark’s integrity and urged him to provide the guidance needed to elevate the party to national prominence.

In his remarks, Oyewole assured the team that all legal frameworks surrounding the recent coalition that birthed the new ADC were properly followed.

“There is no cause for alarm,” he said, adding that the party remains on solid legal footing.

Senator Mark concluded by commending the legal team for its commitment and professionalism, urging them to remain vigilant and proactive as the ADC consolidates its position ahead of the 2027 polls.

With an expanding grassroots presence and a robust legal backbone, the ADC says it is poised to defend its vision and contest vigorously in the upcoming elections.
