Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has firmly disassociated himself from recent calls by the Northern Nigeria Progressive Youth Assembly (NNPYA) urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to select him as a running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the campaign as ill-timed and unnecessary, urging the group and others with similar intentions to immediately halt such activities.
“If you are truly my supporters, please desist from this unnecessary clamour and join the train to restore the glorious days of our country under the able leadership of President Tinubu,” Barau said.
He emphasized the importance of unity and support for President Tinubu’s administration, particularly in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Let us rally around His Excellency to continue delivering his lofty programs encapsulated in the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he added.
The Deputy Senate President reaffirmed his full commitment to the success of the current administration, calling on Nigerians to set aside distractions and focus on the collective task of national transformation.
