A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State, Dr. Sir Walter Oji, has criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to address the economic and security challenges confronting Nigerians.
Oji made the remarks at the inaugural meeting of the G24 for Atiku Abubakar and Ocho Obodoeze 2027 Movement, an ADC support group, in Enugu.
The ADC chieftain claimed that the APC-led Federal Government had worsened economic hardship, insecurity and poverty, arguing that Nigerians would seek a change of leadership in the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the ruling party had not delivered enough to warrant another term in office.
“It is time to tell Bola Tinubu that Nigerians deserve a new direction and that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a man with experience in governance and economic management, should be given the opportunity to lead the country in 2027,” Oji said.
He also criticised the administration of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, alleging that some of its policies had further increased the economic burden on residents.
Oji urged the people of Enugu State to support the ADC governorship candidate, Chief Ocho Obodoeze, in the 2027 election, saying the party represented an alternative focused on development, prosperity and good governance.
“I urge the people of Enugu State to support a new vision that prioritises development, prosperity and good governance,” he said.
The ADC chieftain commended the organisers for mobilising support for Atiku Abubakar, Ocho Obodoeze and other ADC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
He, however, advised support groups to build sustainable grassroots structures rather than depend entirely on financial support from the party or candidates.
Oji urged members and supporters to mobilise resources among themselves and strengthen grassroots engagement while communicating what he described as the party’s message of hope to Nigerians.
He also encouraged citizens to participate actively in the democratic process, stressing that voters had the power to determine the country’s political direction through their ballots.
Those present at the event included Atiku Abubakar’s Special Assistant on Special Duties, Dr. Ekene Onwuka; a representative of the ADC presidential candidate’s wife, Anie Gift; ADC South-East Zonal Vice Chairman, Bon Unachukwu; and the Enugu State Caretaker Chairman, Gen. Chris Eze (rtd.).
