The Presidential Election Petition Court has thrown out the petition filed by the Labour Party and its 2023 presidential election candidate, Peter Obi.
The tribunal dismissed about 17 paragraphs from the petition for containing “vague and generic allegations.”
The PEPC said that the report of 10 out of 13 witnesses of LP was incompetent and incoherent, therefore, their reports and documents tendered were struck out.
The court also ruled that the evidence brought forward by their witnesses was “not filed along or frontloaded with the petition within the 21 days allowed by the Electoral Act 2022.”
The PEPC held that while some of the witnesses are not only persons with interest in the outcome of the case, the reports they tendered were made during the pendency of the case.
Earlier, the tribunal had dismissed a petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, seeking the nullification of the election of President Bola Tinubu.
Delivering judgment, Chairman Justice Haruna Tsammani said that the suit lacked merit.
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in a a petition marked CA/PEPC/04/ challenging the outcome of the Feb 25 presidential election was also heard.
