Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a strong warning to politicians plotting to rig the 2027 elections, saying anyone with such plans should first write their will.
Otti gave the warning on Thursday during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians held at the Government House, Umuahia. His remarks were captured in a video shared on Channels Television’s YouTube page.
Reacting to reports that some politicians were boasting about taking over Abia in 2027, the governor said the outcome of the next election would be determined by God and the people — not by rigging or manipulation.
“I have heard that some people around him say, ‘Oh, they must take over this state, they must write results.’ But the only advice I have for them is that if they truly want to write results, they should write something else before that time. You know what it is? Their will,” Otti declared.
The governor was responding to recent comments credited to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who reportedly said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Abia in 2027.
Otti, who ended the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) over two-decade grip on the state with his 2023 victory under the Labour Party, emphasized that the will of the people — and not political scheming — will decide Abia’s future.
