Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has revealed that he would love fellow Afrobeats star Asake to perform at his wedding.
The Starboy boss made the disclosure during a recent appearance on Apple Music Radio, where he was joined by Asake and long-time collaborator DJ Tunez.
Wizkid said Asake’s breakout hit Omo Ope instantly made him a fan, but described Remember as his favourite song from the Lonely At The Top crooner. He added that he would want the song performed live on his wedding day.
“Omo Ope made me an Asake fan from the first listen. But my favourite Asake song is Remember. I think you have to play that one on my wedding day. It is an amazing record,” Wizkid said.
The Grammy-winning artiste went on to praise Asake’s vocal ability, describing him as one of the most talented singers not only in Africa but globally.
“You are amazing. You have one of the most special voices from home [Africa] and in the world. I have told you that like a million times, and I am saying it again on radio. You are a blessing to African music,” he added.
Wizkid is currently in a romantic relationship with his third baby mama and manager, Japa P. The couple share three children — two boys and a girl.
The singer has been teasing plans of his wedding for several years, keeping fans curious about when the much-anticipated event will finally take place.
