Wike to Atiku: You Have No Choice But to Leave PDP

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has no choice but to exit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike, who made the statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, accused Atiku of lacking genuine commitment to the party and attempting to use it for his personal ambition.

According to the former Rivers State governor, Atiku’s history of repeatedly leaving and returning to the PDP shows inconsistency and self-interest rather than loyalty to the party’s ideals.

“They have never been committed members. Atiku has no choice but to leave, because he wanted to use the PDP, but knowing that I’m there, he cannot get that platform,” Wike said.

He alleged that Atiku and his associates were among those who contributed to the internal divisions that weakened the PDP over the years.

“Those are people who destroyed the party. How many times has he left the PDP and returned?” Wike asked.

The FCT minister also welcomed the reported exit of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri from the PDP, saying he was pleased with the development.

“Diri has said he has left PDP and I’m one of the happiest persons today. The same him and Makinde said they will not allow anybody to destroy the PDP and fall to the gutter. Who has entered the gutter today?” Wike added.

Wike’s remarks are the latest in the long-running feud between the PDP’s G5 bloc and the party’s mainstream leadership, highlighting the deepening rifts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
