The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has fired back at critics who once accused him of destabilizing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying many of them have now defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during the flag-off of the construction of the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction along Wasa Road by Shoprite Junction in Apo, Wike said those who faulted his political stance are now aligning with the very administration he supported.
According to him, “It has never been like this before. Whichever party you belong to, all of them have always worked together to support this administration. I’m very happy that very soon I will speak to Nigerians. I’ve been watching on television and social media those who said I wanted to destabilize the party, that I was working for APC — and now, they are all in APC.”
Wike added jokingly, “So they should commend me for working for where they are heading to. I should be praised for doing a good job for them.”
His comments come after recent defections of key PDP figures, including Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and former PDP National Youth Leader Sunday Udeh-Okoye, who both joined the APC.
Udeh-Okoye, who once battled Wike’s ally Samuel Anyanwu for the PDP National Secretary position, had declared during an interview on Channels Television that the Southeast has “found a home” in the APC.
