The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday held a closed-door meeting with the Rivers State chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chukwuemeka Aaron and Chief Tony Okocha.
The meeting was disclosed in a Facebook post by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, who confirmed that the three political leaders met on Monday morning, although details of their discussions were not made public.
The development comes amid ongoing political realignments in Rivers State. DAILY POST had earlier reported that the Tanimu Turaki-led leadership of the PDP in the state recently collapsed its structure into the Chukwuemeka Aaron-led faction, formally pledging allegiance to Wike.
That alignment was publicly announced on Friday during Wike’s visit to Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, a move widely seen as part of a broader strategy to consolidate political influence across the state.
Wike has been touring all 23 local government areas of Rivers State in what political observers describe as a calculated effort to regain control of the state’s political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting with leaders of both major parties has further fueled speculation about evolving alliances and cross-party engagements that could reshape Rivers State’s political landscape in the coming years.
