Former Rivers State Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment, Leloonu Nwibubasa, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of deliberately fueling political tension in Rivers State, claiming the former governor is “politically drowning” and looking for who to blame.
Nwibubasa made the allegation on Friday during an interview on Arise Television, monitored by DAILY POST.
According to him, Wike has continued to interfere in the affairs of Rivers State years after leaving office, thereby hindering governance and peace in the state.
He accused the FCT Minister of persistently attacking his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, while also dragging external actors into Rivers politics without justification.
“Wike has always been in the news for the wrong reasons, constantly stirring political waters in Rivers State,” Nwibubasa said. “It is difficult to understand why someone who left office eight years ago would refuse to allow Rivers people to rest and allow governance to take place.”
The former commissioner described Wike’s conduct as that of a politician under pressure, alleging that the FCT Minister is facing political decline and projecting his frustrations onto others.
“You can clearly see a man who is politically drowning and is looking for everyone to blame. That is exactly the situation in Rivers State,” he added.
Nwibubasa also advised Wike to refrain from partisan political activities in the state, noting that the former governor currently does not belong to any political party.
“It will be right to advise the FCT Minister that, especially now that he does not belong to any political party, he cannot continue to play politics in Rivers State as though he does,” he said.
The comments come amid ongoing political tensions between Wike and the current Rivers State administration, a development that has continued to dominate public discourse in the state.
