Wike Hints at Exit: “I May Not Be FCT Minister in Two Years”

ABUJA — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has hinted that he may no longer be in office as FCT Minister in the next two years.

Wike made the remark on Friday during the official flag-off of the construction of the Northern Parkway, spanning from Ring Road II to Ring Road III in Abuja.

While addressing the 30-month completion timeline given by the project contractor, Wike noted that he might have left office by then.

“Thirty months is about two years and I would have left, so let it be something that I would start and we will participate in the inauguration of this particular project,” Wike said.

The minister stressed that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda envisions transforming Abuja into a modern city comparable to global standards.

“Mr. President has said it clearly that under the Renewed Hope agenda, Abuja ought to look like other cities of the world. When you travel out, you see road infrastructure. Of course, road infrastructure brings out the development of the city. When everywhere is lit up, you say it’s a beautiful city,” Wike stated.

He further emphasized the administration’s commitment to making Abuja world-class through massive road projects and lighting infrastructure.

“I think under the Renewed Hope agenda of Mr. President, we are changing the directive to make sure that Abuja competes with other cities of the world,” he added.
