Nigerian businessman, Prince Isaac Fayose, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his response to the growing concern about cattle roaming the streets of Abuja.
The criticism followed Wike’s remarks during a media chat in Abuja on Tuesday, where he was asked what the FCT Administration was doing to address the issue of stray cattle in the nation’s capital.
Responding, the minister described the matter as one of national security, saying it falls within the responsibility of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
“I won’t talk about cows; it’s national security. Tell the NSA and all of them to sit down and know what they will do about it. Anyway, let’s leave it there. It’s not like we don’t have the capacity, but we have to be very careful,” Wike said.
Reacting in a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, Fayose accused the minister of failing to confront the issue directly.
“Wike fears cows more than human beings,” Fayose wrote.
He further criticized the government, alleging that it shows greater caution in dealing with cattle than in addressing the concerns of citizens.
“Government that is afraid of cows but quick to disrespect human beings.
“Many of you supporting this government will surely go down in history as wicked Nigerians,” he added.
The exchange comes amid ongoing public concerns over the presence of roaming cattle on major roads in Abuja and the potential safety and security risks they pose to motorists and residents.
