The National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his supporters, describing them as not genuine members of the party.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Ogidi said the former Rivers State governor and his camp have been working against the PDP’s collective interest, adding that their recent comments and conduct prove they are no longer aligned with the party’s core values.
“They are the ones that are arrogant. They are the ones who have been boasting. They are not PDP members as far as I am concerned,” Ogidi declared.
He dismissed Wike’s criticisms of the party’s leadership and reaffirmed that the PDP would proceed with its preparations for the forthcoming national convention despite a court order temporarily halting the exercise.
According to him, the party has already filed an appeal against the judgment and remains focused on due process and internal democracy.
“We are doing everything within our guidelines. It’s unfortunate that some of our members are economical with the facts. What happened in court today was like a comedy,” Ogidi said. “But we have made up our minds — we have appealed, and we will continue with our processes because we believe we are doing the right thing.”
The PDP chieftain stressed that the party remains united and committed to its objectives, despite what he described as the disruptive antics of a few disgruntled individuals.
Ogidi’s comments come amid rising internal tensions within the PDP, as the leadership prepares for its convention in the face of ongoing legal and political challenges.
