Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has responded to growing concerns over the recent United Kingdom visit by Bola Tinubu, describing the trip as a strategic move to boost Nigeria’s global standing and economic prospects.
The visit, which saw President Tinubu engage with King Charles III, drew criticism from opposition figures who questioned its relevance amid Nigeria’s pressing domestic challenges.
Addressing the backlash in a Facebook post on Friday, Bwala emphasized that national development requires proactive international engagement. He noted that the President’s trip was aimed at unlocking opportunities for increased investment, job creation, and stronger bilateral cooperation.
According to him, the UK monarch has demonstrated a practical commitment to partnering with Nigeria on areas of mutual interest, reinforcing the importance of the diplomatic engagement.
Bwala further stated that President Tinubu’s presence on the global stage is essential to ensuring Nigeria remains visible, influential, and respected internationally.
He maintained that such strategic outreach is critical to driving national progress, rather than adopting an inward-looking approach.
