The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified why it has not taken disciplinary action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, despite his open criticism of the party and its leaders.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the party was committed to resolving internal disputes through democratic processes rather than adopting authoritarian measures.
“We’re following through and solving our problems methodically in a democratic way. This is not a command structure, because it’s not a one-party system owned by one individual. You’re going to have different views, different ideas, different comments, and you try to ensure that you bring all of these contestations together,” Ologunagba explained.
He emphasized that the PDP was built on due process and organization, stressing that every action taken by the leadership must align with the party’s constitution.
“I struggled not to go into personal issues. However, straight to the point, this party is based on organization and processes, and we have strived very strenuously to follow those processes. That has now led to the arrangement for the National Convention, which is elective and has been scheduled for Ibadan on the 15th and 16th of November 2025. Every organ of this party, every stakeholder, was informed and specifically invited,” he added.
Ologunagba maintained that the PDP would continue to uphold its democratic values in managing internal disagreements, noting that inclusiveness and adherence to procedure remain central to the party’s stability.
