Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, has admitted that Manchester City star Erling Haaland both excites and frustrates him.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Rooney praised the Norwegian’s movement inside the box but urged him to become more commanding on the pitch.
“I like watching Haaland, but he also frustrates me a bit. If you watch his movement in the 6-yard-box, it’s incredible — but you want a bit more from him,” Rooney said. “I want him to be more commanding. Look at the size of him — he’s like a beast. I want him to go and bully centre-backs.”
The former England captain, widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of his generation, noted that despite Haaland’s phenomenal scoring record, he still has room to add more dominance to his game.
Earlier this year, Rooney had also advised Haaland to be more selfish on the field, suggesting he should take on penalty duties just like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
