Use Benin Coup Response to Crush Terrorists at Home, Adeyanju Tells Tinubu

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called on President Bola Tinubu to deploy the same decisive force used to stop the attempted coup in the Republic of Benin against terrorist groups operating within Nigeria.

Adeyanju, in a statement on Monday, praised the swift intervention of the Nigerian Armed Forces, describing it as a proud moment for the country and a strong message to anti-democratic elements across the Sahel.

“I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the gallant Nigerian Armed Forces for their decisive intervention that helped halt the attempted coup in the Republic of Benin,” he said.

According to him, the development underscores Nigeria’s commitment to defending democracy in the region, while also showcasing the capability of its military.

He, however, urged the President to channel even greater energy toward crushing terrorism within Nigeria’s borders, noting that internal security threats require the same level of urgency and military resolve.

“The same might displayed in Benin should be applied with even greater resolve to crush the terrorist groups operating within our borders, so that Nigeria can truly lead by example,” Adeyanju added.
