UNILAG Bans Skitmaking, Content Creation on Campus Without Approval

(NEWSFLASH) UNILAG to resume January 25

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has officially banned all forms of skitmaking, content creation, and video recording activities within its campus and hostels without prior authorization from the school management.

The directive was announced in a statement signed by the institution’s Head of Communication, Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, following rising concerns over the unauthorized use of university facilities for various video productions, including comedy skits, vox pops, and film shoots.

“The attention of the University Management has been drawn to the rising use of the University premises, including hostels and other facilities, for shooting of films, videos, skits, and similar cinematographic activities without proper authorisation,” the statement read in part.

According to the university, the move is aimed at protecting UNILAG’s image, maintaining decorum within the academic environment, and preventing the misrepresentation of its facilities in online or public content.

The management emphasized that no individual — student, staff, or external visitor — is permitted to record or produce videos on campus without first obtaining formal approval from the university’s Communication Unit.

While acknowledging the importance of creative expression and media engagement, UNILAG reiterated that all such activities must align with established rules and procedures to ensure order and safety across its premises.

The statement further appealed to members of the university community and the general public to strictly comply with the directive “in the interest of order, safety, and collective responsibility.”
