U.S. Warplane Downed Over Iran as Rescue Operation Intensifies

0

A United States warplane has reportedly been shot down over Iran, with American forces launching an urgent search-and-rescue mission to recover the crew, according to multiple major U.S. media outlets on Friday.

Reports from The New York Times indicate that both U.S. and Israeli officials have confirmed Iranian claims that a fighter jet was brought down within Iranian territory. Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal and Axios report that U.S. forces are actively conducting rescue operations in the area.

Iranian state media earlier aired footage said to show the wreckage of the aircraft, though independent verification of the images remains ongoing.

If confirmed, the incident would mark the first known loss of a U.S. fighter jet inside Iran since Donald Trump ordered military action, significantly escalating tensions in the region.

Further details are expected as the situation develops.
