Trump Reveals MRI Scan After Surprise Hospital Visit, Dismisses Health Speculation

U.S. President Donald Trump has disclosed that he underwent an MRI scan during a recent visit to Walter Reed Medical Center, offering clarity for the first time on his unexpected second medical evaluation within a year.

The Republican leader, who turns 80 in June, has long faced scrutiny over his health and transparency. His unannounced hospital trip on October 10 to the military-run facility just outside Washington had sparked fresh rumors about his condition and fitness for office.

“I did. I got an MRI. It was perfect,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday, insisting there was nothing unusual about the test. “I gave you the full results. We had an MRI, and the machine, you know, the whole thing, and it was perfect.”

Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, is typically used to diagnose a range of conditions, including strokes, tumors, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological or muscular issues. The White House had previously declined to explain the reason for the October hospital visit, an omission that fueled public speculation since U.S. presidents traditionally undergo only one comprehensive medical examination per year.

Trump, the oldest person ever inaugurated as president, declined to specify what prompted the screening, instead referring journalists to his doctors. “Nobody has ever given you reports like I gave you,” he said. “And if I didn’t think it was going to be good, I’d tell you. The doctor said some of the best reports for the age — some of the best they’ve ever seen.”

In recent months, observers have noted recurring bruising on the president’s right hand, often covered with makeup during public appearances. According to the White House, the marks are linked to the daily aspirin regimen Trump follows as part of a “standard cardiovascular health program.”

Earlier this year, officials confirmed that Trump had been evaluated for leg swelling and diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency — a common vein condition that impairs blood flow and can cause cramping and skin changes. The condition, while uncomfortable, is typically manageable through medication or minor medical procedures.

The administration said Trump’s most recent lab results, including cardiac screenings, remained within normal limits, with no evidence of arterial disease or deep vein thrombosis.

“President Trump continues to demonstrate excellent overall health,” Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, the president’s physician, said in a letter released by the White House.

Despite ongoing speculation, Trump maintains that his medical results are “among the best ever seen” for someone his age, adding that he remains fit to continue his presidential duties.
