U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated that the United States will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, reinforcing Washington’s long-standing position on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
Trump made the remarks on Friday at the White House while presenting a trophy to the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Navy football team.
Speaking during the event, the president emphasized America’s military strength, particularly its naval superiority, while referencing recent developments involving Iran. He claimed significant damage had been inflicted on Iranian naval capabilities, underscoring the U.S. Navy’s dominance.
“We’re not going to let them have nuclear weapons,” Trump said, warning that such an outcome would pose a serious global threat. He further suggested that previous U.S. administrations should have taken stronger action earlier.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran over nuclear development and regional security, with the U.S. maintaining that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remains a top strategic priority.
