The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has suggested that his administration may shift its attention to Cuba after the conclusion of ongoing military operations involving Iran.
Trump made the remarks at the White House on Thursday while hosting players and officials of Inter Miami CF, winners of the 2025 Major League Soccer championship.
Addressing an audience that largely included people from the Miami area, many of whom have Cuban heritage, the U.S. president indicated that Washington could eventually focus on Cuba once the current situation in Iran is resolved.
“What’s happening with Cuba is amazing. We think that we want to fix, finish this one first, but that will be just a question of time before you and a lot of unbelievable people are going to be going back to Cuba, hopefully not to stay,” Trump said.
His comments come less than a week after tensions escalated in the Middle East, with military hostilities involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Providing an update on the situation, Trump said American and Israeli forces were continuing their operations against Iranian targets.
“We are totally demolishing the enemy,” the president said while speaking about the ongoing conflict.
Trump also commended Marco Rubio for his role in advancing the administration’s foreign policy agenda.
