Tragedy Deepens: Suspect in Taraba Varsity Student’s Death Found Lifeless

JALINGO — The case surrounding the mysterious death of Comfort Jimtop, a 100-level Mass Communication student of Taraba State University, has taken a shocking twist as Emmanuel Kefas, her boyfriend and key suspect, has been found dead under unclear circumstances.

Kefas’s body was reportedly discovered in Tudiri, a community in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State, throwing fresh mystery into the ongoing investigation that has gripped the state and sparked outrage within the university community.

Confirming the incident on Saturday, the spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, James Lashen, said the lifeless body believed to be Kefas’s was recovered following a tip-off from the Tudiri village head.

“A Tecno Android phone was found beside the corpse. When charged, investigators discovered photos of Kefas and the late Comfort Jimtop together, suggesting they were in a romantic relationship,” Lashen disclosed.

He added that the body has since been evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, for autopsy, while efforts are ongoing to trace Kefas’s family for formal identification.

“The autopsy will help determine the actual cause of death,” the police spokesperson said, noting that authorities have not yet classified the incident as suicide, homicide, or accidental.

The discovery adds another tragic dimension to the unfolding saga, leaving the public with more questions than answers as investigations into the deaths of both Comfort Jimtop and Emmanuel Kefas continue.
