President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat terrorism and deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with global partners, pledging to steer the nation forward with renewed purpose and unity.
Speaking at the Federal Executive Council meeting held on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government remains committed to ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity across the country.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism,” the President declared before the council entered a closed-door session. “The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria.”
Thursday’s gathering marked the council’s first meeting since July and came just days after the United States designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” — a move the Federal Government described as a misrepresentation of the nation’s security situation.
In his first public comments on the issue, Tinubu said his administration continues to engage the international community to enhance cooperation on security, economic growth, and development.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners,” the President said, highlighting recent economic gains as proof of investor confidence. “The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy. The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose.”
Tinubu also commended members of his cabinet for their dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda and urged them to maintain focus and teamwork in executing government reforms.
“The country remains united and resolute in its pursuit of peace and prosperity,” he assured, calling on Nigerians to remain hopeful as his administration works to deliver tangible results across all sectors.
