President Bola Tinubu has formally written to the Senate, requesting the screening and confirmation of three non-career ambassadorial nominees.

The nominees are Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Ayodele Oke from Oyo State. The letter was read during plenary by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

According to Tinubu, the nominations were made in line with sections 171 (1), (2)(c), and (4) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). He urged the Senate to “consider and confirm the appointments of the nominees expeditiously” and extended his “assurances of highest consideration” to lawmakers.

Senator Akpabio has referred the nominations to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Sani Bello, directing the committee to review the submissions and report back to the chamber within one week.
