
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo after a brief illness.
The news of her passing was announced on Facebook by her grandson, who expressed gratitude for her life and called for prayers for the family.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the late matriarch as a woman of remarkable character who raised children and grandchildren that have contributed meaningfully to society.
The President sympathized with El-Rufai, noting the deep emotional pain associated with losing a mother. He said he understood the grief, having experienced a similar loss, and prayed that the memories of her life, values, and guidance would bring comfort to the family.
Tinubu also reaffirmed faith in the Islamic belief of returning to the Creator, expressing hope that the deceased would be granted Aljannah Firdaus. He joined family members, friends, and well-wishers in mourning her passing.
Meanwhile, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, also expressed sadness over the loss, recalling fond personal memories of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai. In a condolence message, Ribadu described her as a caring and motherly figure and extended his sympathies to the entire El-Rufai family.
He prayed for the forgiveness of her shortcomings and for strength and comfort for the family during this period of grief.
