Tinubu Is a ‘Use-and-Dump Leader,’ Says Senator Marafa, Citing El-Rufai’s Ordeal

ABUJA — Senator Kabiru Marafa has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of being a “use-and-dump leader,” alleging that the president exploits loyalists for political gain and later abandons them.

Marafa, who recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the claim during an interview on Channels Television on Monday.

The former lawmaker pointed to the treatment of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as evidence of Tinubu’s alleged leadership style.

“Looking at the treatment of El-Rufai, the treatment of Ganduje, and the treatment of me, we are now convinced that Mr. President (Tinubu) is a ‘use and dump leader,’” Marafa declared.

His remarks follow El-Rufai’s recent scathing critique of the Tinubu administration. In a widely circulated interview, the former governor lamented the worsening state of Nigeria’s economy under Tinubu, warning that over 30 million Nigerians had fallen into poverty and the agricultural sector had collapsed.

“The one that is here now, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that we all supported to be president, has been given the opportunity. What are the results?” El-Rufai asked, decrying the naira’s plunge from ₦400 to ₦1,600 against the dollar.

El-Rufai, once a key ally and supporter of Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, has now joined the growing list of voices criticizing the president’s leadership and economic policies.
