Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed deep sorrow over a recent terrorist attack in Borgu Local Government Area, which left numerous residents dead, several others kidnapped, and many livelihoods destroyed.

Through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor described the assault as a “cruel act by nefarious terrorists,” affecting communities across Kasuwan Daji Market and Sukumbara Village. Both Muslims and Christians from different areas of Borgu were among the victims.

Governor Bago extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those affected, urging residents to remain steadfast in faith amid these troubling times. “It is disturbing to start the year with such unfortunate incidents,” he said, emphasizing that his administration is working closely with the federal government and security agencies to strengthen protection in the area.

He further revealed that a joint security task force is currently pursuing the perpetrators, with efforts focused on rescuing the kidnapped individuals.

In his prayers, Governor Bago asked God to grant eternal rest to the deceased, heal the injured, deliver the kidnapped, and restore the livelihoods shattered by the attack.
