The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has received a Virtual Examination Centre as a gift from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). On Friday at the school’s Abeokuta location, the facility was given to the administration.

250 desktop computers will be installed, and an information and communication technology (ICT) center will be built and supplied with 250 tables and seats.

Additionally, the NCC provided a 200KVA Generator and ICT peripherals for the facility.

The Federal Government had futuristic strategies for ICT across six geopolitical zones in the country, according to Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, who spoke at the event.

The Director of Projects at Danbatta, Mr. Philip Eretan, emphasized the advantages that ICT was designed to present in digital learning and research for both students and instructors.

He said that the Federal Government has created two policy documents aimed at harnessing ICT for Nigeria’s socioeconomic growth.

“The commission has established a number of intervention programs aimed at improving ICT literacy and digital skills as part of her duty to execute the aforementioned policy papers.

”Also, increasing ICT penetration, ensuring that staff and students leverage on digital technology for research, learning, inspiration for innovation, capacity building, and advancement among others.

“The Virtual Examination Centre is not merely a physical space, it represents a nexus of knowledge, technology, and the aspirations of our students.

” It is a space where traditional assessment methods converge with modern digital solutions, creating an environment that is conducive to fair, secure, and efficient evaluations,” he said.

Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, the rector of MAPOLY, thanked the Federal Government and the Commission for the facility and added that it arrived just when the institution needed it.

The facility the Federal Government provided the institution with, according to the rector, was still one of the nicest gifts the polytechnic had ever received.

“It appears as if you are conversant with our needs and that again portrayed the fact that before you do any project, you do a thorough need assessment.

”We definitely need this facility, particularly at this time. We are deepening our ICT knowledge among our staff and students,” he said.

Odedeji stated that MAPOLY continued to support the government’s investment in the institution and that it stood out among Nigerian polytechnics in terms of research and academics.
