WTT Contender Lagos: Sreeja Akula scripts history with singles title

Real Madrid are reportedly at risk of facing an ‘internal war’ within the club after two of their star players expressed concerns over the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and Brazilian teenager Endrick.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side romped to the La Liga title last season, beating arch-rivals Barcelona by a comfortable 10–point margin.

Los Blancos then went on to secure a record-extending 15th Champions League crown earlier this month by defeating Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.

Even with 2024’s top Ballon d’Or contenders Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr already in their squad, Los Merengues wasted no time in strengthening their already star-studded lineup for next season by bringing in two more world-class talents.

The first was a deal that Madrid completed back in December 2022 for Palmeiras’ teenage sensation Endrick, and the second was the blockbuster acquisition of former Paris Saint-Germain talisman Kylian Mbappe.

Endrick already has 82 senior appearances under his belt and has scored three times in four appearances for his country this season, including a winner against England in a friendly at Wembley.

Mbappe, on the other hand, needs no introduction and is widely expected to become the focal point of Madrid’s attack next season.

However, according to TEAMtalk, the arrival of Endrick and Mbappe could result in an ‘internal war’ within Los Blancos’ camp, which could lead to one or more high-profile departures this summer.

The report adds that the source of the potential upheaval stems from Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr expressing concerns that the new arrivals will limit their playing time next season.

There is a school of thought suggesting that Real’s preferred attack in the 2024-25 campaign will feature Mbappe playing centrally, flanked by new signing Endrick on one side and Vinicius on the other.

If that were to be the case it would leave Rodrygo playing a bit-part role, leading to speculation that he could look for a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
