Super Eagles stand-in captain and free agent Wilfred Ndidi has turned down a contract offer from Sevilla due to wage disagreements.
According to Deportivo, the midfielder’s wage demands have made it difficult for the Spanish LaLiga side to secure his services at this time. Sevilla was among the clubs interested in the Nigerian star and made a contract offer that was promptly rejected.
Estadio reported that Sevilla had put forth a proposal of €1.5 million per season, plus a prorated signing bonus spread over the duration of the contract. However, Ndidi declined the offer as it was significantly lower than the €4.5 million he earned annually at Leicester. He is seeking to maintain or improve on his previous salary, making Sevilla’s offer unacceptable.
Estadio further noted that Ndidi represents an “impossible mission” for Sevilla. Other clubs linked with him, such as Real Betis and Barcelona, may also struggle to meet his wage demands.
