PARIS — The race for football’s most prestigious individual honour is officially on, as France Football on Thursday unveiled the star-studded shortlist for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
The list, determined by top-tier journalists from across the globe, was released via the organizers’ official social media channels — and it features some of the biggest names in world football.
Topping the list of favourites are Real Madrid’s new superstar Kylian Mbappe, teenage sensation Lamine Yamal of Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain’s electric winger Ousmane Dembele.
Also making the cut are Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain), Viktor Gyokeres (Arsenal), Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), and Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan).
This year’s ceremony promises to be a dramatic showdown between the youthful brilliance of Yamal, the creativity of Dembele, and the dominance of Mbappe, all of whom have had standout seasons for club and country.
The 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place at the iconic Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on September 22, where the world will discover who will be crowned the best footballer on the planet.
