JUST IN: Tinubu Rewards D’Tigress with $100,000, National Honour, and New Apartments

President Bola Tinubu has announced a lavish reward package for Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, following their triumph at the recently concluded FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship.

Each player of the victorious squad will receive a cash reward of $100,000 and a brand-new apartment. In addition, the team’s coaches will be awarded $50,000 each for their role in leading the team to glory.

In a further show of appreciation, President Tinubu also conferred the prestigious national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on every member of the D’Tigress team.

The gesture comes shortly after a similar $100,000 gift to the Super Falcons—winners of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco—stirred public debate.

D’Tigress’ latest African title adds to their growing legacy as a dominant force in women’s basketball on the continent.
