Governors from across the South-West region convened in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday to deliberate on the growing security challenges confronting the zone.
Those present at the closed-door meeting include Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke was represented by his deputy, Kola Adeusi.
According to reports, the strategic meeting was convened to review the security situation in the region and explore coordinated measures to strengthen public safety.
Confirming the development, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Special Adviser on Media to Governor Makinde, told DAILY POST that deliberations were already underway.
“The meeting has started. All the governors are present except Governor Adeleke, who was represented by his deputy,” he said.
The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape the region’s next steps in tackling insecurity.
