Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to transform the state’s aviation landscape, unveiling a series of modernization initiatives aimed at boosting passenger experience and attracting greater regional and international traffic.
Speaking at the commissioning of the new Protocol Lounge at Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, the governor described the project as an essential component of a multi-phase upgrade designed to strengthen the state’s aviation infrastructure.
According to Soludo, modern airport facilities are central to his administration’s broader development agenda, which prioritizes job creation, skills development, and improved air connectivity.
“By upgrading our airport infrastructure and delivering a world-class Protocol Lounge, we are not only improving passenger experience but also signaling to investors that Anambra is open for business,” he said. “This is about jobs, growth, and sustainable development for our people.”
The governor emphasized ongoing collaboration with federal aviation regulators and international partners to ensure the airport meets global operational and safety standards.
The newly inaugurated Protocol Lounge is designed to offer secure, comfortable, and exclusive services for dignitaries, government officials, and high-profile travelers. It features dedicated check-in points, executive seating, private waiting areas, and enhanced security systems.
Commissioner for Transportation, Barr. Patricia Igwebuike, noted that the upgraded amenities would further stimulate commerce, tourism, and investment within Umueri and across Anambra State.
Chinua Achebe International Airport has become a cornerstone of the state’s aviation aspirations, and the new facility marks the latest milestone in efforts to position Anambra as a competitive player in the aviation sector.
