Soludo Declares “This Is Home” as Orumba Communities Donate ₦225 Million to His Re-Election Campaign

BREAKING: Charles Soludo wins Anambra governorship election

As part of his re-election campaign ahead of the November 8, 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo took his message of continuity and development to Ajalli in Orumba North and Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Areas, declaring the region “a homecoming” and reaffirming his deep connection to the people.

During the campaign tour, the governor engaged traditional leaders, stakeholders, and residents in an interactive rally, where he outlined his administration’s achievements and unveiled his plans for the next four years. Soludo highlighted his government’s investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, describing his campaign as “a divine project and a mass movement” driven by grassroots energy and faith in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

“This visit is a homecoming for me,” Soludo said. “The support I received from Orumba during the last election was overwhelming, and I’m here to say thank you. Everyone is saying we are the consensus candidate in Anambra, but I remind you — it is your vote that will make it real. Get your PVCs ready and come out to vote. Soludo will win with your vote.”

Reiterating his confidence in APGA, the governor urged voters to “be careful when you vote to avoid invalid ballots,” assuring them that his administration’s commitment to the development of Anambra remains unwavering. “In Orumba, we have initiated multiple projects to enhance our roads, schools, and hospitals, and we are not stopping there,” he added.

The campaign rally drew massive local support as Orumba North and Orumba South communities collectively donated ₦225 million (₦75 million and ₦150 million respectively) to the governor’s campaign effort — a gesture Soludo described as unprecedented in the state’s political history. He commended the communities’ contributions as a sign of unity, ownership, and belief in his administration’s vision.

Former Deputy Governor Chief Emeka Sibudu, Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Foster Ihejiofor, Chief of Staff Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Member representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, Lady Ifeoma Ekwueme (wife of former Vice President Dr. Alex Ekwueme), Mrs. Amaka Iruegbu, and Chief Ben Nwankwo, who all spoke at the event, echoed the governor’s message of continuity and progress. They emphasized that APGA remains the only truly rooted party in the 18 wards and 15 communities of Orumba South, pledging a sweeping victory for the party.

Soludo pledged to accelerate development in the next four years if re-elected, promising a governance model that would expand opportunities for all. “We are intentionally building a society where everyone can excel,” he said. “I promise to keep working for you, every day we have.”

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it is 99 percent ready for the November 8 election. The Commission confirmed that voting will take place in 5,718 out of the 5,720 polling units across Anambra, with two excluded due to the absence of registered voters.

INEC National Commissioner supervising Anambra State, Dr. Kenneth Ikeagu, said during a readiness assessment visit that the electoral body had achieved near-total logistical preparedness. “We have signed agreements with transport unions for the movement of materials, and boats have been arranged for riverine areas. Accreditation will begin at 8:30 a.m., and our officials will be at polling units by 7:00 a.m.,” Ikeagu said.

He also disclosed that 24,000 ad-hoc personnel will be deployed across the state, assuring voters of adequate security coverage. “Security agencies have stabilized areas previously affected by insecurity, and we have contingency arrangements to ensure every eligible voter can cast a ballot,” he said.

Commending Anambra residents for their peaceful conduct, Ikeagu urged them to maintain calm and cooperate with electoral officers. “Security is everyone’s business. Let us all work together to ensure a peaceful and credible election,” he added.

INEC further confirmed that the mock accreditation exercise conducted with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was successful, with the process taking less than a minute per voter. The Commission reiterated that Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) remain the property of individual voters and will not be issued by proxy.

With just two weeks to the crucial poll, the political atmosphere in Anambra is gathering momentum as Soludo’s campaign continues to project confidence, community-driven support, and a message of sustained development and unity under APGA.
