Popular Nigerian record producer Rexxie has stirred controversy after alleging that singer Seyi Vibez is an “industry plant,” claiming the artiste’s rise to fame was carefully planned rather than organic.
The Abracadabra crooner made the allegation during a recent TikTok livestream, where he suggested that Seyi Vibez’ breakthrough was the result of strategic backing from influential figures within the music industry, alongside what he described as “a bit of divine arrangement.”
According to Rexxie, the success of Seyi Vibez did not happen by chance.
“Seyi Vibez’ blow was an orchestration and a bit of divine arrangement. It was orchestrated in the sense that those behind him planned it. It was well-planned. Let’s not deceive ourselves,” he said.
Rexxie further alleged that Seyi Vibez and his team attempted to engineer a public rivalry with fellow Afrobeats star Asake in a bid to gain attention and boost relevance, but the move failed.
“Seyi Vibez and his team even tried to force a beef with Asake but got snubbed. I don’t want to go into the details, but it is understandable that his blow was orchestrated,” Rexxie added.
The claims have sparked conversations online, reigniting debates around “industry plants” and manufactured stardom in Nigeria’s music scene.
As of the time of filing this report, Seyi Vibez has not responded to the allegations.
