Security Forces Launch Massive Manhunt as Terrorists Kidnap Students, Staff in Niger State

Security agencies have commenced a coordinated search-and-rescue mission after terrorists attacked St. Mary Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting an unspecified number of students and staff.

The armed assailants reportedly stormed the school around 2:00 am on Friday, whisking away victims from the hostel in the early-morning raid.

Confirming the incident, the Niger State Police Command, through its spokesperson, SP W.A. Abiodun, said police tactical teams, alongside military units and other security agencies, have been deployed to the area. The teams are currently combing surrounding forests in a bid to track down the attackers and secure the safe return of the abducted individuals.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, assured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to rescuing the students unharmed. He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives during the ongoing operation.
